It's no accident that we're focused on beans -- or more specifically, lentils (dals), the staple Indian "superfood." We love dals because of their amazing nutritional profile, delicious flavors, and versatility. The beans in our logo are arranged in an ornamental pattern inspired by the intricate latticed screens used in jaali architecture across Asia. Jaali-designed walls have beautifully ornate openings instead of windows, and in this way, our logo represents our desire to shine a light on Indian culture by helping people discover the amazing foods and spices from the region.
If you look closer still, you'll see that our logo also includes Jaali Bean's initials. The cleverly-camouflaged "jb" is a nod to the Indian tradition of bridal henna, which often involves hiding the groom's initials among the intricate henna patterns applied to the bride's hands and feet. We like the idea of Jaali Bean being a key ingredient in a long and rewarding marriage to health, happiness, and deliciously satisfying food!
